The Sims 3 is the latest installment of the legendary simulation game which allows you to control your own family of "Sims". Although this game is the most advanced version ever released, it's continually causing a large number of problems for people who want to play it on their system. Once of these problems is the continuous crashes that seem to be taking effect. Not many people know this but a crash is actually different to a freeze, and people often get confused between the two, although they are both similar.
A crash occurs when the computer or program ceases to function properly and therefore the program (in this case Sims 3) will resort back to the desktop or in some cases the computer will restart. A freeze is when a computer program ceases to respond to inputs sent by the computer and so the program can't function properly. However there is a way that you can fix this issue, that requires you to follow some steps.
Firstly you should re-install the Sims 3 as there could be some files that are on there that have been damaged and are needed for the installation or setup process. To do this you should click Start > Control Panel > All Programs > Add/Remove Programs, then select Sims 3 and uninstall the game and all of it's components. Secondly you should proceed to update the graphics driver, which could be out of date and so running the game may become very difficult for the computer. Keeping the graphics driver updated is very important as the computer has to process graphical information as quick as possible. To update your graphics driver you should visit the manufacturers website to download the latest patches.
Next you should update Windows as some files on the game may not be compatible with the version of Windows that you have on your computer, so keeping Windows up to date with the latest patches and downloads is crucial to ensure your computer can run as fast as possible. To update Windows simply click Start > All programs then select Windows Update from the list and follow the on screen instructions.
Finally it is highly recommended that you perform a registry scan using a registry cleaner as this will filter out any junk files that were left behind after you uninstalled the game to start with. Junk files are a major issue with computer speed as they assist in slowing your computer right down because it has to look through all of the junk files to find necessary information.
